The control valve should be well adjustable. Stop valve is suitable for water control occasion because the route is in direct proportion to closure member. Both of rotary valve and flexible valve are equipped with good water control characteristic, but it just confines to a limiting aperture. When the brake valve is operating, the rounded shutter is moving inside of the valve seat’s front opening, it controls water flow better only when it is near the off-position, so in general, brake valve does not used for this purpose.
 

On the basis of the valve exercising pattern between closure member and valve seat, we can divine the manual water control valve into four categories:

(1) Cut off valve. In this sort of valve, Plug shape closure member works in rectilinear motion along with valve seat axis.

(2) slide valve. Gate shape closure member works perpendicular to the direction of water flowing.

(3) Rotation valve. This type of closure member is shape of plunger or disk, while the operation, closure member coils with Axis which is perpendicular to the water flow. 

(4) Flexible valve. This kind of valve consists of elastic closure member and valve body, medium goes straightly through the valve body.
 

All the categories above are also contained many other classes of valve, although they have common in the type of water control adjustment, the shapes of closure member are different. For example, plug valve is a kind of rotation valve like butterfly valve, however, they have unlikeness in their models. Moreover, in order to meet some specific operating requirements, each water control valve can be turned out to several models.
