Advantages and Installation Notes of Globe Valves

Globe valves, also called as stop valves, use a plug as disc. The sealing face is plane or cone. The disc makes rectilinear motion along with the center line of fluid. According to motion form of stem, globe valves can be classified into non-rising stem globe valves and rising stem globe valves. For globe valves only turning on-off completely, they cannot be used for regulation or throttling. Globe valves allow media to flow in only one direction. So directivity should be focused when installing globe valves. Face to face dimension of globe valves is larger than that of gate valves. Meanwhile, globe valves have high fluid resistance. Sealing is unreliable when valves operation for a long time. Globe valves are suitable for being used as shut-off valves in pipelines that media having high temperature, toxicity, flamibility, strong permeability, environmental pollution and radiation flow through. Globe valves are also used for regulation, which are high quality products for realizing non-leakage factory.

Advantages of globe valves:
1. Simple structure. Convenient for manufacturing and repairing.
2. Short stroke. Short time for turning on-off.
3. Good sealing. Flow friction exits between two sealing faces. Having long service life.

Disadvantages of globe valves:
1. High fluid resistance. High force is needed when opening or closing valves.
2. Unsuitable for media having particles, high viscosity and coking.
3. Poor regulation performance.

Installation notes of globe valves
1. Handwheel or handle operated globe valves can be installed in any position in pipeline.
2. Handwheel, handle and actuator are not allowed to be used for slinging.
3. Flow direction of media should be the same as direction of arrow marked on the valves body.
